Accompanied by his manager who is also his brother he provided details on the journey that led to these results. The champion, who is making significant strides in securing titles for Cameroon, also discussed his future prospects.

Returning from Ghana, where the 2026 World Fitness Federation (WFF) African Championship took place, the Cameroonian national bodybuilding team has brought home an unprecedented haul of medals. With nearly 24 medals secured, the Cameroonian athletes truly excelled. Among them, Desmond Khan the national team’s vice-captain distinguished himself by winning 4 individual awards, all while championing an ambitious social initiative for the youth in Bamenda.

An exceptional performance, with 4 individual medals for the vice-captain The Cameroonian delegation made a powerful statement at this edition of the championship in Ghana. Facing off against some of the sport’s leading nations including Nigeria, Zambia, Togo, Ivory Coast, and the host country itself Cameroon demonstrated its physical and technical superiority.

« It was a great success. The entire Cameroonian federation returned with nearly 24 medals, a large number of which are gold, » the national vice-captain noted with enthusiasm.

On a personal level, the Cameroonian athlete confirmed his status as an elite competitor on the continent by securing four major medals:

🥇 GOLD Medal – Men’s Physique

🥇 GOLD Medal – Classic Physique

🥇 GOLD Medal – Men’s Performance

🥉 BRONZE Medal – Jeans Model

“The competition was incredibly tough. Africans possess excellent genetics for bodybuilding. But bodybuilding is, above all, a sport of strength and rigor something you build day by day. I knew what I was capable of.”

Behind the scenes of an intense preparation, behind these podium achievements lies Spartan-like discipline

Fresh off the World Championships held in Cameroon, the athlete had only a few weeks to fine-tune his physical condition before the African event. His training routine was built around three key pillars:

  1. An intensive training block: One month of high-intensity preparation.
  2. Athletic frequency: Two sessions a day, six days a week.
  3. A strict diet: Nutrition calibrated down to the very gram (rice, chicken breast, and vegetables-no sauces).

“Motivation is just a spark. What bodybuilding demands is consistency: showing up to the gym day after day to sculpt a physique worthy of competition. I made a point of showing my medals to the media because, in Cameroon, this level of commitment represents an immense sacrifice,”

the champion shares.

A Tribute to the Authorities and a Focus on the International Stage

Now competing at the professional level, the Cameroonian international has no intention of slowing down. His goal remains to see the green, red, and yellow colors of Cameroon shine on the world’s most prestigious stages.

He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the crucial role played by sports authorities:

« I commend the Federation, FEKABO and its president, Mr. Balemania as well as the Minister of Sports. Bodybuilding is the discipline that brought the most gold medals to Cameroon in 2026. Managing to compete in so many high-level international events in a single year is a remarkable achievement. »

A Social Project in Bamenda

« From the Ghetto to the Modern Stage »

Beyond trophies and podium finishes, these athletes are driven by a strong social vision. The champion’s primary ambition is to open his own gym to train and mentor the next generation of Cameroonian bodybuilders. This initiative centers on the creation of a modern sports facility in Bamenda (in Northwest Cameroon), envisioned as a sanctuary for social integration and youth outreach.

« For us, this project goes beyond bodybuilding. We want to build a center in Bamenda where young people can come not only to train, but also to learn discipline, steer clear of drugs, and distance themselves from bad influences. Sport saved our lives; it has the power to save many others. »

This multi-disciplinary sports complex will feature: Spaces dedicated to weight training and modern physical conditioning; Areas for fitness, cardio training, and martial arts; A wellness hub accessible to students, as well as mothers and fathers.

A solemn appeal to public authorities and benefactors

Rooted in the concept of « From the Ghetto to the Modern Stage, » this initiative aims to restore hope to the athletes’ home communities by adapting to contemporary realities and the digital age. A heartfelt appeal is therefore extended to both institutional and private stakeholders:

« We call upon the Government, the Ministry of Sports, the Head of State, businesses, and all citizens of good will. Whether it be equipment, a sports facility, or a letter of support, every contribution counts. Together, we can provide a better environment for our youth to flourish, transform lives, and continue to bring honor to Cameroon on the global stage. »
