
Political Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities: Task Force Reaches Out to Media
juin 23, 2025The Task Force of the Inclusive Society for People with Disabilities platform organized a meeting with Cameroonian media to sensitize political actors on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in their programs and projects. The meeting, held at a hotel in Yaoundé, brought together leaders of associations of persons with disabilities, local elected officials, and representatives of NGOs.
Participants highlighted the importance of political inclusion of persons with disabilities and presented statistics on the participation of these individuals in electoral processes. They also emphasized the role played by the Sight Savers Cameroon NGO and other development partners in promoting inclusion.
Thanks to the efforts of the Task Force and its partners, approximately 400,000 persons with disabilities are now registered on electoral lists. Participants called on political actors to take into account the needs and rights of persons with disabilities in their programs and projects.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to emphasize the importance of collaboration and solidarity in promoting the political inclusion of persons with disabilities. As an African proverb says, « one hand cannot tie a package »; it is therefore essential that all stakeholders work together to achieve this goal.
The event was supported by Sight Savers Cameroon and brought together many leaders of organizations of persons with disabilities, including the National Association of the Blind of Cameroon and the Cameroonian Organization of the Deaf.
The Task Force should endeavour to associate in their several activities, many other people and in order to give their know how. An african proverb says that : » One hand can not climb up a tree »
