SPORT – MINSEP CONFERENCE: SPORT AS A LEVER FOR THE “SEPTENNAT OF GREAT EXPECTATIONS”

500 participants at the Sports Complex to harmonize ministerial action

Yaoundé, May 11, 2026 – The Yaoundé Multipurpose Sports Complex is hosting, on May 11 and 12, 2026, the Conference of Heads of Central, Devolved, Supervised and Attached Services of the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP).

Held under the theme “Physical and Sporting Activities: A Lever for Social Cohesion, Foundation of the Septennat of Great Expectations”, the meeting brings together 500 participants, including 13 heads of attached services, 61 heads of supervised services, and 18 guests.

Context: Sport for national unity

In line with the Head of State’s vision, the “Septennat of Great Expectations”, sport goes beyond competition. It is now seen as a cross-cutting development tool. MINSEP must therefore align its strategies with this national cohesion imperative to consolidate peace and unity, in accordance with Law No. 2018/014 of July 11, 2018.

Goal: Make sport a driver of “Great Expectations”

General objective: Harmonize central, devolved, attached and supervised services to make sport and physical education a lever for social cohesion.

Specific objectives:

  1. Define mechanisms to promote sport for all as a factor of social inclusion.
  2. Strengthen MINSEP governance and monitoring of performance contracts with National, School and University Sports Federations.
  3. Modernize sports infrastructure management to optimize profitability.
  4. Integrate SND30 2020-2030 priorities into the sports agenda.

4 thematic tracks in workshops

  1. Track 1: Physical and sports education as a foundation of citizenship in schools.
  2. Track 2: Elite sport and its impact on national unity.
  3. Track 3: Digitalization and modernization of administrative management.
  4. Track 4: Modernization and management of sports infrastructure.

Expected outcomes

  • A social cohesion action plan validated;
  • Service heads briefed on new performance directives;
  • Federation leaders equipped for effective managerial and financial governance;
  • A defined sports infrastructure management model;
  • A draft collaboration framework between MINSEP and CTDs for local infrastructure.

Closing ceremony will be chaired by the Minister of Sports from 3:30 PM on May 12.
